Real Easy
EASY Cruising
Tales, Tips and Torture from various Yachties
Owners John and Heather
We live in Brisbane and have owned a 9m catamaran
and 7m tri before. Much of our sailing has been around the bays off Brisbane with the odd coastal trip with others along the east coast of Australia.
After selling our tri in 2005 it wasn’t long before the
sailing bug reappeared.
The decision to build
an Easy was “easy”.
We have always been impressed with its simplicity.
The biggest decision
was how much we would contribute to the building and who we would get to do it.
Then we discovered Peter and
Anne Snell who agreed to take on our project. The project commenced in November 2005. The plan is for Peter to build our shell and us to fit out in our spare time. Well that’s the plan!
So far so good one hull down.
Ready for the bridge deck
Bridge deck taking shape
Shelving going in
Time to do some glassing before the top goes on
Off set doorway to provide starboard helm and nice wide open window for visibility
It didn’t take long for Peter to reach hull turning day and with the helpful assistance of the Easy crew the hulls were turn in no time and it was time to party
Plans become reality.
Now we can start to finesse the layout, two double bunks as per plan, one single bunk starboard side front as per plan, port side front to contain second head (port-a-potti) for the master cabin, Galley, Chart table, head, shower as per plan, pantry and fridge in port side rear
